FRATERNAL GREETINGS TO ALL!
The John A Rose club will have its regular monthly get together on Thursday March 11th at Brother's Restaurant on Waring Road at 12:00 noon. I am repeating much of my last letter since someone may have not received the why and what for these changes were made. Also this is my busy time of the year and I am up to my chin in tax returns. At the meeting on January 14th it was moved, seconded and passed that the name of the club be changed from North Park, since we haven't been meeting in North Park for some time now, to the John A Rose Club. Brother Rose, as most of you know was a Past Potentate of Al Bahr Shrine and was active in the Shrine upon until his untimely death. What some of you may not know is that he was also a strong supporter of the principles of Hi Twelve from the time when a group of prominent Masons including Bro Rose, MWGM Judge Leavitt and others of similar stature in the community formed the Downtown Hi Twelve Club when they were young vibrant up and coming members of the community. He also was a Past President of the North Park Hi Twelve club.
This is another reason that I keep reiterating that this is the SERVICE CLUB that Master Masons should be a member of and support since we are here for our Masonic youth, DeMolay, Jobs Daughters and Rainbow for girls. .Many Masons are members of service clubs such as the Kiwanis or the Lions etc and these are all good organizations with fine altruistic programs for members of the community at large. However, Hi 12 is the only service club exclusively for Master Masons and we have exclusive programs in our scholarship aid programs and especially so here in the State of California where we not only support the Wolcott Foundation, but also the Ensign Mayo Loan Fund which is an exclusive fund strictly for our Masonic Youth and Master Masons. Remember, every Master Mason should be a Hi 12 member for this very reason. For those members who may have forgotten, this is a non interest bearing loan fund for Master Masons, DeMolay members, Job's Daughters and Rainbow members. It now offers $4,000.00 per year loans to all of these qualifiers. It is not necessarily for recent graduates from high school but for any member even senior members who may want to attend a school or college to improve their present job position. Loans can even be made for attendance at vocational schools providing certain qualifiers are met. Even you, the recipient of this letter, could qualify.
So in view of this, why not come out and enjoy a little food, fun and fellowship on the 14th and do not forget to bring your lady since ladies are invited to our luncheons. No degree work just fellowship and fun with your brothers and their ladies. You may even invite a non initiated per to our luncheons.
Last month there were 8 members and 9 visitors.
Fraternally,
Merold
